Welcome to the Town of Cathlamet!
Town Mission Statement
"Cathlamet is committed to providing credible leadership and quality services to the community through transparency of its processes, good stewardship of public resources, respect for the Town's heritage, and valuing its diverse citizenry".
The Town of Cathlamet is located in Wahkiakum County bordering the Columbia River in southwest
Washington State, twenty miles west of Longview, WA. (Click here for a map.)
Established as a trading post by James Birnie in 1846, it was incorporated on February 4, 1907. Cathlamet's docks once bustled with the sounds and smells of the commercial fishing, canneries and logging industry that were the backbone of the local economy.
Today, the docks are still used by small fishing companies, tugboat operations and recreational boaters.
The Town's picturesque quality has drawn several motion picture production companies to film here. Cathlamet retains its small town atmosphere and charm while becoming a destination for tourists who wish to step back into time as they peruse the antique shops for hidden treasures.
To the right is the historic Pioneer Church located in downtown Cathlamet.
